Brian, Based on a quick reading, I think that for the case of manufacturers who take responsibility to self-declare compliance, the draft new directive makes few changes to the current rules. For the use of 3rd party experts (Conformity Assessment Bodies or Notified Bodies) who are used to conduct an "EU-type" examination of the product for the manufacturer or importer, there are numerous changes.
