From my colleague in South Africa:
Regarding the change to the South Africa plug it is true that we are
changing from
the big 3 pin plug to a smaller 3 pin plug. The dimensions are given in SANS
164-2 Sheet 4.
In South Africa we have accepted most of the plugs except the Shuko plug
with the earth strips
at the sides. It depends on what sort of class appliance you want to import
and the current
being drawn.
The suggestion by Dan to use the SANS 164-2 sheet 7 plug would be correct if
the appliance use
up to 16 A. However, if the current drawn is not that high, he can use the
plug given in SANS 164-5
sheet 5-1, as this is the European 2 pin diamond plug.
