Misuse creates humor in direct proportion to the degree of outrageous
inappropriateness of the action. For instance, activating a pushbutton
switch with a hammer is misuse of the switch (although perhaps not of
the hammer), and more humorous as the size of the hammer increases.
Guilty, m'lud, but not quite as charged. Punching a British 13 A mains
plug to force it into a wall-socket with broken shutter mechanism. The
shaver socket also didn't work. I complained to the hotel and received a
free breakfast and a refund! 'Crime' sometimes pays.
OTOH, when the shower head fell off its pipe in a hotel in LA, I didn't
get a refund.
