All, I am presently working with a 10 MW inverter that uses water cooling. In the past, the UL inspector has said we should use sections from UL 508C - 67.1 Loss of cooling medium circulation test & 67.2 Hydrostatic pressure test. The new UL 61800-5-1 has no such provisions. I did a little research and my first thought was to look into UL 1012 which is also used for some types of industrial power conversion equipment, but it was of no help. I looked into UL 61010-1 and the fluid containing parts section seems possible but using a laboratory equipment standard for a 10 MW inverter seems a bit out of line. The original tests in 508C could be used but it is being withdrawn from use this month.
Has anyone faced this problem and found an acceptable solution? thanks, Doug -- Douglas E Powell [email protected] http://www.linkedin.com/in/dougp01 ᐧ - ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message is from the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society emc-pstc discussion list.
