As Cortland alluded to on this thread, I  have gotten consulting work when
equipments were falsely failed during susceptibility testing due to using a
DMM to monitor a pass/fail criterion, and the DMM acted as an rf detector
and indicated a false reading.  Using a permanent magnet / d'Arsonval
movement meter rectified (!) the situation.

I have many such meters in nice wood and bakelite boxes in my facility, and
use them regularly to eliminate (no - reduce) the chances of doing something
stupid.
