Dear experts, Would a machine training simulator composed (primarily) of COTS video displays, PC, and VR headset be subject to EN 55032 & EN 55024, or is there another option? Would the generic standards route make more sense? The intended user environments are dealer training facilities and the occasional showroom floor (therefore expecting "Class B" emissions). Primary purpose of system is construction machinery training, not entertainment. I do not believe Machinery Directive applies here and wish to evaluate the system under EMCD and LVD. This seems reasonable in that the end hardware function is very similar to a video game platform, albeit with training software and slightly different controllers.
What degree of product safety evaluation should I prepare for assuming I can get copies of CB certs for all purchased ITE/AV subassemblies? I'm anticipating a mixture of mostly EN 60950 and maybe EN 62368. I've not verified yet but have been assured all purchased subassemblies are either CSA or UL listed. Would a construction review be sufficient or is formal safety testing a must and should I involve a NRTL? I don't have all the details of the power distribution network, but I believe it is not much more than a central plug strip/UPS and possibly power switched through the central PC. Lastly, one possible sales option is "PC delete", where customer gets VR apparatus, software and controllers. If the controllers happen to be wireless (e.g. joysticks, keyboards) does this software/controller bundle become subject to the RED? Please feel free to contact me directly or reply to the group.
