Hi Armund:

I work frequently with the Telcordia GR-63 and GR-1089 telecom standards,
but I have not looked at the ETSI series you mention.

At least in the case of the Telcordia standards, the requirements are
generally targeted at equipment that will be used in telecom network
facilities such as central offices, cell tower sites, outdoor equipment
cabinets, and pole-mounted locations. If the non-telecom equipment you have
in mind is not used in very similar environments, I suspect the ESTI
standards might not be a good match.

Also, as Marko points out, testing to the GR-63 and GR-1089 standards is
very expensive. It is not unusual to spend over $50K on lab testing fees
for a single product.

Here in the USA, the only companies that voluntarily subject themselves to
the GR-63 and GR-1089 testing are doing do because their prospective
customer requires meeting these standards as a condition for purchasing the
product. It is common for all of the major USA carriers (Verizon, AT&T,
Centurylink, etc.) to require some degree of Telcordia compliance for any
products they use in their networks.

Subject: [PSES] Environmental testing

ETSI have published the EN 300 019-series which describes environmental
tests (climate, vibration, etc.) for telecom equipment during the conditions
as storage, transportation and in-use.

I assume that regular electronic devices (not telecom devices) can use this
series to category the devices according to the classes described in the
series. In the absence of similar standards for general electronics, use of
EN 300 019 should be better than nothing.

Or are there other environmental standards that's recommended?

Cheers,

Best regards

Amund
