John et al,

I've had an update from a contact at the customer indicating that EN 50083-2
has an update pending to tweak Annex ZZ to make the standard applicable to
RED as well as EMCD (at least that's my interpretation).

See screengrab that I was sent:

I do not have any timescale information on when this decision was made or
when implementation is due. Anyone know how to get a line on what's
happening in TC 209? Do you have to be a member of something?

All the best

James

standards

According to CENELEC,
<https://shop.bsigroup.com/ProductDetail?pid=000000000030324450> EN
50083-2:2012+A1:2015 is still current. I agree that this is not very
satisfactory. You can choose to use 55032/5 provided you document your
reasons. CLC/TC209 has no current project to update the standard.

Hi folks,

Product in question is a masthead amplifier, previously tested to EN
50083-2. This standard (still listed in OJ for EMCD) makes extensive
references to EN 55013 (superseded by EN 55032) and EN 55020 (superseded by
EN 55035, not in OJ yet).

My argument would be to use 55032/35 instead of 50083-2 as the former are
more up to date. These also have an up to date Annex ZZ giving it
applicability to the RED as well as the EMCD, unlike to older standard.
Given that the product falls into the scope of the RED then this is a
further argument for using 55032/35.

I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on the matter.

All the best

James
