What version are you running?

ppmc.N.encoder.N.index-enable is an I/O pin from the ppmc driver in
version 2.1.X and in CVS head.

In 2,0,X, the ppmc index was wrong - but that has been fixed for a
couple of months.

Again - I encourage you to use the IRC channel - it can be a lot
faster than email. If your EMC computer is on the net, then IRC is
trivial to use. From the main menu, click Internet->Xchat, select
"irc.freenode.net" from the list of servers, then /join #emc and/or
/join #emc-devel
