Look on eBay for "super Vexta" drivers.  Not all of them can do 
step/direction, which I think they call "two pulse", vs. what 
they call "one pulse", which is CW and CCW step lines. 
Actually, it is pretty easy to convert for this, or maybe EMC
can now generate CW/CCW step pulses.  If so, then you can use 
any super vexta drive.  These should be small motors, and the 
small drives go quite cheap on eBay.

Yes, I have a larger 5-phase motor and matching drive, they run 
like a top, and while audible, are quite smooth.
