Now that I some parts of my lathe functional, how do I set the encoder
count on Axis user interface? For example, I want to put in tool 1,
take a skim cut on a piece using jog keys, measure, calculate radius,
and then set my screen X for the radius, all other tool offsets will be
offset from tool 1, correct? I don't have my home & limit switch wires
figured out yet.

Second question, I'm ready to try connecting my spindle encoder to my
Mesa 5i20 board. Can I connect this as an encoder to axis 2 or 3, or
should I connect it to general purpose inputs to be configured as a
counter?

I got a Hitachi variable frequency drive ordered last night, it's
supposed to take my single phase in and drive my 3hp spindle motor. I
need it mostly for a phase converter but the variable speed will be nice
too, my lathe only has 6 gear speeds between 128 and 2800rpm.

Thanks!

Roger Neal
