I think the two interesting words in this license are "irrevocable" and "sublicense". Since the license can't be revoked, what can the licensor do? Sue the licensee for monetary damages or to obtain some sort of injunction? Actual monetary damage would have to be proved (not too likely IMHO). Punitive damages are possible I suppose... The right to sub-license seems (to me anyway) to allow the sub-licensor to put additional restrictions upon the sub-licensee, such as the GPL's restrictions requiring the availability of source code for redistributed derivative works. It would seem that the intent of this license's "remain intact" provision is to ensure that future sub-licensees are aware of their rights under this original license. IANAL, but my opinion (for what it's worth) is that this is a tempest in a teapot. Although the xfig license isn't listed on this page: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html many of the "compatible" licenses are very similar. We could write [EMAIL PROTECTED] to see what the caretakers of xfig think, or to [EMAIL PROTECTED] to see what the FSF thinks.
