I hope you don't mind me asking why you need Windows. I have Rutex servo amps that use Windows tuning software, but I plug in a spare Windows boot hard drive for that. > I tried loading WINE and when I got to the part where I put my > password in, it will not let me type in my password. The only Ubuntu password I use is the normal user password, even to become root. (I use "sudo su -" in a terminal to become root, by the way.) Can you get to another terminal by Control-Alt-F2, log in and "ps ax" to see what the computer is trying to do? I would put in a vote to suggest that you keep your EMC computer as lean as possible. For me, it helps me stay focused on what's really important. I have a couple EMC only computers, so that I can break one and still have one to use. Good luck.
