Thanks.  Looking again at that GMR sensor in your last post, I'm surprised its 
only good to 10 kilohertz.  That is pretty slow and would certainly be over 
powered by looking at the head gear in my small lathes spindle.  Odd too 
since this technology is now being used in terabyte disk drives at several 
hundred megabytes per second read speeds.
