I think you might be able to see my quandary though. If you for some 
reason one kills
emc2 at any extreme in travel, the next time it comes up you find you 
are trapped
on one side by a hard limit, and the other by a soft limit. You can't 
move the table.
If it were not for the fact that I had a small negative value beyond 
home, I'd have
not been able to move the table at all without manually moving the lead 
screw by
hand.
