My comments on e-stop may have been (okay, undoubtedly are) lacking in some ways. I tried to indicate that my experience is limited. I thought it important though, to indicate that e-stop systems need to have an element that is independent of the EMC2, or more importantly, all features of e-stop system need to fail "safe". I agree that different machines need to have different e-stop features. I was trying to put forth that a design of a proper e-stop system may not be obvious or easy, but I believe it is worth the effort to get done properly. Also, as you indicate there might be unintentional bad advise presented here. I would contend that it is up to the reader to use any advise as a start towards formulating their own solution, for which they take responsibility for.
