Do NOT!!! use fdisk unless you are near guru status!

If the command :

/sbin/lsmod | grep floppy

produces no output like this :
floppy                 57125  1

then the driver did not load, for some reason.  This stuff can be set 
upto work automatically, but I really don't recommend using 3.5" 
floppies, anyway.  I have had a LOT of trouble using them ever since 
they came out, like having to use cleaner disks after EVERY use of a 
single floppy or the drive sees an absolute blank disc, etc.  You really 
need to get networking running, it is far easier than it used to be.
