1: You are top posting, which puts the answers ahead of the question. Generally frowned on. :) 2: There are those of us who use a usb key, but because usb's new device scan take so long it screws up realtime performance, do NOT leave a storage device plugged into the usb bus when actually cutting parts. Other than that caveat, they are handier than sliced bread. >-----Original Message----- >From: Jon Elson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >Sent: 27 October 2008 01:23 AM >To: Enhanced Machine Controller (EMC) >Subject: Re: [Emc-users] Desperately seeking my floppy drive > >Dave Houghton wrote: >> Hi Kirk >> Sudo mount ....etc answers mount point media/floppy does not exist >> Fdisk .........etc answers unable to open dev/fda >> Gee Whiz this isn't half getting difficult. >> I'm still wondering if it is not something to do with the partitioning. > >Do NOT!!! use fdisk unless you are near guru status! > >If the command : > >/sbin/lsmod | grep floppy > >produces no output like this : >floppy 57125 1 > >then the driver did not load, for some reason.
