If adsl, then a 'router' that handles the PPPoE part to connect you, and that has several 'LAN' ports would be just the ticket. Plug the winderz box into one LAN port, the kubuntu box into the next, setup the router to enable NAT to the 192.168.x.x address block, and to be a DHCP server handing out addresses in that block. Then configure both the winderz box and the kubuntu box to use the routers DHCP services, set the gateway address and the dns server address to the routers address and let it handle all that. With the usual LinkSys router, you could plug 4 boxes in and all could share the connection. Most routers can be configured using a browser by pointing the browser to http://192.168.1.1, and the routers booklet should tell you the login name and default password. If on dialup, things get a little messier in the router setup but it can be done. -- Cheers, Gene "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo. Hi Gene I have a wireless 3G HSDPA (thing) it just plugs in to a usb socket, bit like a cell phone. It's very portable just plug it in. Seems easier than using routers. What do you think? I could move it from one computer to another.
