The Fireball CNC group seem to like the Dewalt D26670. It's 4.5lb 
compared to the 7.75lb of the DW888 and I think on the size of machine I 
have weight on the Z-axis is an issue.

I think we are in agreement that it is best to be conservative with how 
a CNC machine is used to get the best reliability and lifespan. :)

So far I don't see any difference in performance between 10IPM and 
30IPM, cutting hardwood. But then I'm new to this so I'm probably 
missing something important...

One thing to note is that I never cut more than 0.05" deep in a pass. 
I'm sure if I cut deeper in a single pass it would be a completely 
different story.
