cos takes an angle in radians and returns its cosine. The return value of cos is neither radians nor degrees because it's not an angle at all. In standard math calls like cos, acos, atan2, all values passed in or returned (that are angles) are in radians. The only time you have to deal with degrees is joint or axis positions from/to EMC. They are degrees because gcode is degrees, I guess.
