Thanks for your tip, John!! I'm applying everything you suggested. I followed your directions and created a directory for emc2-trunk, then used the CVS repository to download the source. I then recompiled everything per your example. The only change I made was to append "--enable-simulator" in the ./configure line. Everything went smoothly.
Your tips relieve the hassle I used to feel every time I had to download a TAR, etc. in order to end up with a working simulator! I have two concerns about differences between the simulation compile and 2.2.8 non-simulation pre-compiled package. It may be nothing but I'd just like confirmation. First, the simulation still recognizes ";" as the start of a remark, whereas 2.2.8 does not (it recognizes "(" only). Second, on 2.2.8, I get "2.2.8" on the header line of AXIS, whereas on the simulator, I do not. Instead, I get "pre-2.3 CVS HEAD" on the header line. The reason I bring these two (insignificant) differences up is that they make me wonder whether my simulation is the same release as my actual milling program. Am I worried over nothing??
