Thanks, but.. been there done that.. There's no information imprinted or stamped on the Steppers and there's precious little information for the " chopper drive" boards.
I also followed the suggestion of inverting the step signals. That seems to make the steppers work better. In order to get the x and y axis moving correctly I put in a -20 for the screw pitch (found it buried in the docs) which seems to have less odd implications than inverting the step direction signal.
