OK, now I'm confused.  There was a trace at the top of the screen that 
looked like
a sawtooth, and had "error" in the signal name.  What was that?  (I 
couldn't quite
read it on the photo.)  The only thing that could cause such a perfect 
sawtooth is a full-scale
oscillation in some loop, causing its output to be a square wave.  I'm 
wondering that
it must be caused when the Z tries to sync up to the spindle, and 
exceeds the axis' velocity
limit.  Once it gets behind, it then suffers from some integral windup 
kind of problem, and
keeps overshooting the required velocity.  I am assuming all this from 
that sawtooth.

I don't know the new stepgen at all, I deal only with servo systems, 
here, so my expertise
is quite limited.
