the board has an lvds connector and an external vga. I'll try that, did not 
think of it so far, strange, since I used to 'repair' some compaq desktops by 
massageing the chips on the mobo manually with success :-).

mean while I could find out the board ID: it is a JUKI-3711P. I will also get 
behind the manuaul and see if the lvds is connected correctly. I should also be 
able to get a windows install either tomorrow or next week that runs on the 
same hardware.
