Anson, The inexpensive 3D scanners that are easily configured are really what many consider 2.5D, kind of like most folks use of routers with 3D. It basically means no undercuts in the 3D model. Many buildings, terain, etc do well with this kind of scanning.
I haven't tried the EMC scanning, but the results I have seen from MACH3, is that it generates a point cloud (X, Y, and Z where the surface was detected). I think I remember reading EMC has the capabilities too. Take care and let us know more about your project as you get time! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Planet: dedicated and managed hosting, cloud storage, colocation Stay online with enterprise data centers and the best network in the business Choose flexible plans and management services without long-term contracts Personal 24x7 support from experience hosting pros just a phone call away. http://p.sf.net/sfu/theplanet-com _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
