good day to you all.

I have carefully dug through the linuxcnc website and I have come to the
conclusion that you people have created a wonderful piece of software.
At the same time there are a few machines within the company that need a
retrofit with a new controller, here is the link to a more modern version of
one of them:

http://www.starragheckert.com/sh/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=89&Itemid=197<https://mail.manturbo.co.za/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.starragheckert.com/sh/index.php?option=com_content%26task=view%26id=89%26Itemid=197>

so I have been strongly advocating the open source route.
This, however, gets opposed by some of the managers who consider opensource
to be rather 'hobbyist' if you understand what I mean.

So at the moment I am engaged in trying to set up a proper industrial
strength back-up structure for the solution I have proposed.

My question to you is:
Would any of you see their way clear to offer such backup, against some
renumeration to be agreed upon.
I.e. in the way we get back up from Heidenhain, Allen-Bradley etc. We have a
problem we send a mail and we get help on short notice to sort the problem.
Or if it is urgent we phone, get told to do some tests, phone again and so
on until the issue is resolved.

Would you be able to enter in a written contract in this respect?

I personally know that this looks to you perhaps a bit silly, since this
support is easily be gotten from the mailing list, but at the same time
corporate people see the world from a different perspective. So I suppose it
is only right that this view is accommodated also in the open source
movement.

Best Regards,

Jan de Kruyf.
