2.4 is the newest production release. So there could be some bugs
but has been tested by people.
There is no live cd version yet.

pncconf is an alpha release configuration builder like stepconf.
It is meant for mesa card systems.
It's not well tested or completely finished but can make basic
configs. It was thinking you could make a test config and just look
at the HAL file to see how pncconf sets up the options you talked
of and copy / modify them for your config.
Or I could just post a sample...
