Sorry to dredge this up from over a year ago, but I have a little more info that may jog someones memory to help.
I have picked up a pair of slo-syn ss2000-md7 drivers, and following the docs, hooked them up. The only problem I am having is they will not change direction. Jon Elson suggested: Try connecting the step signals to what you think are the direction input, and direction to the step input. If it now only moves in the other direction, then your SloSyn driver is expecting pulses on one input for CW and on the other input for CCW. This is a fairly common command scheme, sometimes called 1 pulse, and the step/direction scheme is called 2 pulse (1P/2P). There may be an option setting on the driver to convert it to 2P or step/direction. If not, there is a step output selection for this type of command. With that and this from the manual: The SLO-SYN SS2000MD7 (MD7-128) Translator/Drive is a bipolar, speed adjustable, two-phase PWM drive that uses power MOSFET devices. I have hooked it up and changed the hal file for this system for up/down (type 1) and for phase-A phase-B (type 2) from the stepgen manpage. I can now, with type 2, get the motor to turn using both + and -, but in the same direction. Can anyone suggest what to try next? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Next 800 Companies to Lead America's Growth: New Video Whitepaper David G.
