How do you have the signals connected? It looks a lot like my drive which requires +5V (**referenced to p-port Gnd**) on the OPTO terminal, and then the P-Port pins are active-low. (set invert=true in stepconf) I think I had a situation where the step signals were AC-coupled enough to work, but not the direction pins. You can probably get a handy +5V relative to logic ground from a USB port.
