They configured and calibrated during boot and allowed me to install Ubuntu 10.04 (probably any operating system) using the touch screen from the first install screen. IOWs the bios recognized and configured the touch screen to function prior to the operating system start. I would try any other USB touchscreen and expect (maybe/maybe not) functionality from boot up.
