expensive, yes... 

If you have a lot of parts you mill that come from a 'family' (as pro/e calls 
them),
where dimensions can change parts get's added/removed but essentially it's the 
same
part set. Then Pro/E will keep the relations in there milling package
so you don't have to re-assign all milling operations. With a press of a button
Pro/E can re-generate your g-code.

If you do a lot of one-offs then there are properly cheaper options. Pro/E
comes with simulation package and optimize packages tools (forgot it's name),
so if milling per hour is expensive, then you can win there aswell.
