Igor:

I've seen several responses to you that nibble at my central
question---have you been in touch with Anca? It appears to remain a
viable business with sales/service offices all over the world. Its
website says

"Like all machinery, spare parts are required to ensure your machine is
always operating at optimum performance. At ANCA we constantly monitor
and review spare parts deployment to ensure the right parts are in stock
when and where they are needed. The ANCA customer support team is able
to provide you with a comprehensive list of spare parts and prices.

-Superseded machines-

Spare parts for superseded machines are sold at greatly reduced prices.
If you wish to purchase or need any information on these parts, please
contact your nearest ANCA branch office. The following machines are
still supported."

The first thing I would do is call them with the machine model number in
my hand and the first thing I'd ask for is a user manual and a service
manual.

Also, I noted on their website

"ANCA machines run on Microsoft operating system offering new features,
which increase usability and user friendliness. The benefits of using
this system are:

*Windows XP offers easy management and network integration as well as
support for the latest technology in PC controls.

*There is enhanced security features to protect valuable data.

*Support for languages is included. Changing from one language to
another has been significantly simplified.

ANCA CNC machines are complemented with a versatile software suite,
which enables precise and flexible applications for a variety of
production requirements. It comprises several independent, but
integrated application modules. ANCA has delivered a range of
innovations which have totally changed the landscape of the industry and
provided enormous gains in efficiency in operating and using CNC tool
and cutter grinding machines."

This language strongly suggests a garden-variety PC motherboard is the
basis of the controller but also strongly suggests to me that ANCA users
will be expecting to use their "versatile software suite."

I hope you'll tell us what you decide to do. Inquiring minds want to know:-)

Regards,
Kent
