so 480 IPM is 8 IPS
8 IPS x 1909.9 Steps/inch = 15279.2 Hz = 65548 nS

So you need at least a 32274 nS period unless you use the stepgen in reset 
mode

As Gene mentioned you also need overhead space obove this to allow the control 
loop to speed up the step rate somewhat above EMCs maximum if its behind.
