Gentlemen, I have one Cinci 5 axis controlled by MDSI's OpenCNC ver 3.0 control software and Qnx 4.25 rtos. I installed the control in 1998. This machine runs reliably every day. I put OpenCNC on three Cinci 5 axis mills. One machine physically broke. My EMC2 Cinci was OpenCNC until I put EMC2 on it. I stopped putting OpenCNC on machines when they 'progressed' to VentureCom real time on Windows and dropped Qnx. This was circa 1999/2000 (memory cells are stressing here). I explored EMC at that time. I waited until EMC2 was released to attempt an install. OpenCNC control software is not open. OpenCNC configuration files are open. The OpenCNC hardware was somewhat open in 1998. They had a list of 'approved' computer/control hardware to choose from. They did not require a proprietary hardware bundle for the control installation. thanks Stuart
