If that is true then I would not be surprised finding out that managers of that company do not know anything about this situation, because they would understand that it is pointless to monopolize the use of abbreviation EMC - it has already been pointed out that it is used just too widely. It just seems like some bastard in legal department tries to earn a bonus by showing off to bosses, how he managed to stop infringement of their copyright rights and who would be the best target for that? A non-profit project, because, if there is no profit, then most likely there is no funds for lawyers...
