That's an additional thread. You just have to create threads in order from fastest to slowest, and loading EMCMOT creates the base and servo threads which closes the window for other fast threads. Knowing what I know now I may not have used a separate laser-thread, but there might be a reason I'm forgetting that I still do need it. Now that I know about the Mesa 5i25 I may end up redoing all that laser support for that card (with rastering support directly in the FPGA).
