I want a 3" encoder to go on the end of a ballscrew like this one:

My guess is that US Digital would charge a fortune to make a custom
disk. Once I get the system worked out, I can make as many as I want.

My guess is that they use film because the US Digital disks I have, seem
to smear or get tacky like film if I get moist fingers on them, which I
very much avoid doing.

I have a motor with a mirrored and etched glass encoder disk. I think
it's one of the sexiest things in my shop... besides me of course.
