Ian, that is a right jolly idea! I had no clue this stuff could do work
fine enough to make gears. I need to replace those in my 2 speed mill
head, and I have them on hand from LMS right now. And it would be nice to
be able to pick up 2x the revs for engraving. ANAICT the spindle itself
runs dead cold at 2500, so I'd think those bearings could do 5 grand. But
I don't want to contemplate the noise that might make, it sounds like an
old hand cranked corn sheller now. :(

I have a bag of the KE56KM2-009 motors, little single stack nema 23
wannabe's rated at 52 oz, and running at 2 amps I think they will work very
well indeed at least for the cross slide. And I have some 425's I can put
on the lead screw too. So, warmer weather will find me in the driveway
using my old 12" craftsman bandsaw to find the motor mount extension to
attach to the rear of the carriage buried someplace in a bigger block of
alu.

I guess if I want a treadmill motor, I'll have to haunt the scrap yards and
intercept one there. All the surplus new ones seem to be going into home
brew wind generators at 3x the price. Bummer.

Cheers, Gene
