The punch drive varies.  The oldest units use a crankshaft and an air
operated clutch that connects it to a big flywheel for one revolution.
Others use hydraulics, and some of the fancy new ones use servo motors
driving big ballscrews, either directly or through a bell-crank that
provides additional mechanical advantage.

I would guess that the one in question is either clutch or hydraulic.
