The punch drive varies. The oldest units use a crankshaft and an air operated clutch that connects it to a big flywheel for one revolution. Others use hydraulics, and some of the fancy new ones use servo motors driving big ballscrews, either directly or through a bell-crank that provides additional mechanical advantage. I would guess that the one in question is either clutch or hydraulic. -- John Kasunich [email protected] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
