Kent, I am sorry for your loss - the woman the plaque is for was my girlfriend so I know a little of what you went through. In this case it is a bench, so the angle of the backrest will be sufficient that the birds won't be able to get to it and it won't degrade too quickly. But I can always replace it at a later date if necessary.
