I've never found that a simulation program runs better than the
controller, or CAM program your going to use. I'm fortunate, I use a
really expensive CAM prog (FeatureCam) and it set to use the same
parameters as my controller. It will tell me if I'm going to exceed my
machine envelope all the way through to exceed the cutting capabilities
of a particular tool plus a lot more.

Even with all that, I always air run a new job 30mm above the real thing
and see how it runs. From experience you can tell if it's going to be
OK. You don't have to watch, it's the sound that's the major indicator
:)
