Nice here too, low 60's. Light rain.

Gas and cigarettes was 8 cents, bread was a nickel according to mother in
1934. Today a pack of those slim sandwich buns is $4. And gas is about
$3.85 locally.

Two of my boys and one GF are about checked out of the motel and headed
this way, for an hour or so, then back to eastern Kansas again & the daily
grind. 2 or 3 of them at a time is just right and I have enjoyed the heck
out of having them around for several days. We even hit the rifle range &
I now have some empty brass to refill. I even tried to act like a 40 year
old & hup it out to the 300 yard berm to see if I could find any 50 cal
holes in the target. Sadly, no. 100 Gr of Blackhorn-209 didn't get a 300
Gr lead hpbt anywhere near that far. My chrono said they were running in
the 1850-1925 FPS range. Some fresh ditches in the dirt 50 feet down the
grade is all. Lived to regret it too, legs cramped & it took me 20
minutes to get back to the firing line shelter. A 5 minute sitdown was
very welcome. It turns out that while I do feel good, better than in
years, I'm not THAT good yet. I gotta learn to act my age I guess, and get
me a moped for that sort of thing. Along with a bike carrier that plugs
into the Reese socket on my GMC king cab.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
