Good news! We managed to install a new Yaskawa V1000 VFD to drive the spindle of the lathe. Today we finished with the arrangement of the wires, and it's working perfectly. It was a really fast work considering that we had to adapt another motor (the original was a 208 volts three phase and here the most common VFDs work with 380 volts). So now it has a 20 hp motor from an old copy lathe that's obsolete.
It was pretty straightforward since all the logic signals were standard and we only had to wire them to the VFD. Also, it's braking really well considering that we didn't mount the braking resistors yet. So, now that's fully functional again we're going to test and try to identify the signals from the DC servo motors, because we're 100% sure that we're going to convert it to LinuxCNC. They're mitsubishi, I don't have the model number right now but I'm going to tell you tomorrow, may be some of you know something about them. Well as always thank you for your help and knowledge, I have to say I'm in love with this community :). 2014-07-21 20:53 GMT-03:00 dave <dengv...@charter.net>: > Ouch!
