This one also has a scribed mark right on the face of the Z sled casting,
and its this mark I tried to use when I remounted the head.

This one already has that mod as shipped, 4 bolts total, one centered on
the axis of the tilt, and 3 more, one size smaller in a sliding track
around it. That track is as cast, some sort of a plug dropped into the
mold I have to assume, having done some iron casting one summer, '58 I
think.

Interesting, so I should not only check the side of the rod, but the
front face too. I hadn't considered that might be needed. But measuring
the out of square of the column may be beyond the ability of my tools.

For that, I wonder if a medium sized, trustworthy square, one leg on the
table, the other against the machined face of the column might suffice.
I'd have to remove all the swarf shielding to get full length access.
Keyword there is trustworthy of course. Plastic ones do not even get to
the cashier in my cart, but...

Z Gibs too loose would compound that error too. Whole can of lively
worms I have here it seems.

Thanks Russell.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
