Andy... you must need a lot of reduction for that one :P Is your Z ballscrew floating on the far end?
Danny... usually you see a toothed (timing) belt as they have no backlash and are inexpensive. Then you can set whatever reduction you need by changing the ratios. If the servos are big enough or the load small enough they can be direct drive depending on your system voltage.
