That is definitely a concern, and I can't give a definitive answer.
Mine have lasted many years, but I am a hobbyist and sometimes my
machines can stay off for as much as a week.

However, keeping a backup of the config (or, optionally an image of
the whole module) should mean that a failure is a quickly-recovered
problem and I doubt that your G-code files will not exist anywhere
else (or they can be backed-up)
