I was looking more at using the gear cutter rather than an end mill. This is the short video that shows a horizontal mill with the table angled and the X also driving the index. https://youtu.be/3-yhy1BIxGI Other mechanical approaches use a tilted indexer or tilt the vertical mill head. This one used an extra XY table set at an angle and on that they mounted the A axis indexer and use the horizontal mill. https://youtu.be/oiBU7yxkpzc Notice in this video they have to tilt the head. https://youtu.be/oiBU7yxkpzc So I'm guessing using gear cutter a horizontal mill requires the table to be at an angle. Using a vertical mill requires the head to be tilted.
