EMC was purchased in 2016 by Dell. They no longer use the EMC(squared) logo as of 2016. All of the legal effort about the logo was probably done to help in the effort to sell the company and increase the sale value. My neighbor works for EMC here in Wichita. She does credit analysis. I don't know if it is for banks or just evaluating potential customers. Aside from the stress and consternation in the LinuxCNC world about the logo I like the new name a lot better. Thanks Stuart
