Since you are already disconnected at the outputs on the 7i76, I would hook it back up, one wire at a time, to the original config. When the lcnc startup error listed above returns, then that is the i/o wireing path I would trace, looking for shorts. Shorts that take down the field power, which kills sseriel so keep an eye on that as you hook the rest of it back up. I note in both cases where I've had trouble, the basic problem is that whatever is killing the sseriel, which is demo'd by the above error message, that recovery is not possible unless a full power down, count to at least 5 before powering it up again is done. It seems as if it has to have a FULL, all supplies decayed to zero volts reset before sseriel works again. I'm using 12 volts for field power, and that supply goes into a continuous 1 second blink when this condition exists, like its trying to restart into an overload, you will see that in one of the leds on the 7i76 too. That many restarts is hell on spinning rust hard drives, but If you've switched to SSD for a system drive, its not as big a problem for the SSD. I've plans to switch all of my machines to SSD's as they make quite a difference in speed, both in rebooting and in loading up linuxcnc. And be sure to tell the list what you find. In one of my machines I had neglected to put a free wheeling diode across a relay coil that was switching power to the led lights, the spindle motor cooling pump and machine stepper motor power, adding that diode across the relay coil fixed it. The jury is still out on the 2 times the other machine has done this. > regards > > Andrew Cheers, Gene Heskett -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
